Role Summary:

E&P is seeking a DevOps engineer to join its Upstream Team. The engineer will support our customers in the Energy industry by building, configuring, and deploying Subsurface Applications, Plugins, and tools globally. The platforms may be legacy on-premise or cloud-hosted with tier 1 vendors such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform.


Responsibilities:
  • Work within the Subsurface Applications Platform team to build, configure, and manage the Subsurface Applications platform hosted on the client's premises or in a cloud-hosted platform.
  • Development of the platform, including but not limited to automation, scripting, IaaS Config, application installation, and configuration.
  • Work with wider IT Operational Support technical teams to troubleshoot any problems with the platform.
  • Maintain fit for purpose documentation of application platform installation, configuration & migration.
  • Conduct Knowledge transfer activities where required
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with the client, Digital and Technical Function, and 3rd party support teams as required

Requirements:
  • Subsurface Applications and technology experience. e.g., Petrel, Openworks, Kingdom, Techlog, CoVIz, Geoteric, RMS, Move, Blueback Toolbox, Compute Clusters, proprietary reservoir modelling tools
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud Platform Technologies
  • Experience working with PowerShell and other scripting & automation technologies to automate technical workflows, e.g., Docker, Ansible, Jenkins, etc.
  • Experience working within an Agile Framework and/or Scrum
  • Skill and comfort working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and user iteration.
  • Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other technical tools.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tools and technologies
  • Self-starter, team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a proactive approach are essential
  • Ability to communicate at the technical level

Desirable Skills:
  • Experience using Microsoft Azure DevOps to manage tasks, product backlog items, code, and build CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience building, configuring, and deploying virtual desktop solutions and associated connection brokers
  • Microsoft Azure or AWS Certification
